These useful devices clearly display what's happening behind you, so you'll see children, pedestrians, traffic, pets and toys while backing out of the driveway or parking space. If so, then it still has not solved as to why there are missing data sections.Drive in reverse with confidence and avoid potential accidents by installing a new or pre-owned wireless reversing camera. Simply - I just want it to work! If INNOVV post to their main website that they indeed utilise the GPS constellation, and not the BDS, then I am happy to retract my claims and issue an apology. GPS is not a verb even though it has become one. However, as a consumer I have the right to a product that works as it is claimed to do and the representations made around its technical architecture. Posting this matter is all about transparency - I do not make spurious claims without the evidence as I have nothing to gain by making such claims. Fast forward and after 6 months of investigation we came to the BDS conclusion.

Following verification of the technical integrity of the hardware it comes down to a software issue. I attach a screen shot from a recent ride with the graph overlay showing the missing bearing/speed data.

The graph window from the recorded K2 movie files consistently miss data in time based sections - it is not intermittent or random, especially when overhead conditions are perfect. As we know the K2 & APP does not have this functionality so no direct comparisons can be made. Despite having my wiring checked (it was professionally installed), replacing the 'GPS' receiver, changing SD cards etc etc I get continual repeats of the same issue - frustrating and perplexing.(Seems you do as well) So I tested satellite constellations using my handheld Garmin 62S which displays the overhead satellites. Alongside this my Garmin GPS did not miss a track Frostie - I installed this K2 unit on the basis of its performance - it has delivered everything I wanted from this 'Gold Standard' product with the exception of the 'missing data chunks'. The attached screenshots (PDF document) from a recent ride using DashCam viewer show the issue: 1) No speed 2) mid-ride the BDS satellites come back, and 3) The entire ride showing the outage blocks when the BDS satellites were unavailable.

June 2020 is a target date to add multi-spectral frequency which should alleviate the issue and utilise other satellite tracking systems on demand. INNOVV are misrepresenting the facts when they state 'GPS' when it is in fact BDS.

Periodic outages here in New Zealand are frequent and after a frustrating period of discovery the core issue is one of system configuration: BDS versus GPS. Technically the K2 system works OK and does not have any issues EXCEPT for when the BDS overhead satellite coverage is not adequate enough to function. As yet BDS does not support the GPS frequencies however it appears to be moving in this direction. It is designed and configured to use the Chinese BeiDou Satellite Navigation System (BDS). The INNOVV system does NOT use the Global Positioning System (GPS) for position tracking as it purports to use.
